A life fully lived
Nelson Alexander Odt passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 21, 2009, in a non-alcohol related single-vehicle collision when his Subaru left the edge of a dark, shoulder-less roadway in Truckee, California.
Alex was deeply embedded in his community, employed at both the Tahoe Forest Hospital and the Tahoe Donner Golf Course. Al truly lived by the profound motto: “Life should not only be lived, it should be celebrated.”
He pursued downhill skiing with an absolute passion, cherishing the freedom of cutting through fresh powder on a Lake Tahoe “bluebird day.” Whether he was snowmobiling, golfing, or playing on the local Truckee kickball and softball teams, he brought an unmatched joy to everyone around him.
Another deep anchor in his life was underground hip-hop. Whether he was traveling to catch a live show or spinning his own turntables late into the evening, music served as the beautiful soundtrack to his journey.
Alex will forever be remembered for his vibrant spirit, great sense of humor, and intense love for his family and friends. He was greatly loved by many and is deeply missed.
